Applications
Student Government (SG) runs yearly cycles of applications for students to get involved in the organization and in the wider University landscape. This page houses two types of applications: applications to get involved in Student Government and applications that Student Government hosts. These positions are chosen purely on an application basis and graded through the oversight of Student Government and the Office of the Dean of Students.
SG Appointment Applications
These are applications to get involved in SG's executive or legislative branch. You will be considered an official member of Student Government if you are appointed.
Exec Board Applications
An opportunity for any UT Austin student to serve on the Executive Board of the Executive Alliance.
Available positions include:
- Chief of Staff
- Administrative Director
- Financial Director
- Communications Director
- Advocacy Director

Exec Staff Applications
An opportunity for any UT Austin student to serve under the Executive Board of the Executive Alliance.
Available offices to work under include:
- Chief of Staff
- Administrative Director
- Financial Director
- Communications Director
- Advocacy Director

First-Year Fellowship Applications
The First-Year Fellowship is designed to engage first-year and transfer students in Student Government.
- 12 students will be selected as Fellows.
- Each Fellow is paired with a mentor in Student Government leadership (Executive Board or Assembly Board).
- Gain hands-on experience in the Executive or Legislative Branch.
Timeline: September 2026
Eligibility: Open to freshmen & transfer students
Applications Hosted by SG
These are applications that Student Government runs, reviews, and points for external positions outside of SG. You will not be considered an official member of Student Government if you are appointed.
External University Committees
An opportunity for any UT Austin student to serve on key University committees and shape the larger administrate efforts.
Available committees include:
- President's Student Advisory Committee
- ADA Accessibility Committee
- Intercollegiate Athletics Council
- President's Sustainability Steering Committee
- Disability & Access - Disability Cultural Center Student Advisory Committee
- Student Libraries Council
- Green Fund Committee
- Student Health Advisory Committee (SHAC)
- University Unions Board of Directors (two-year term)

Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board
Apply to become a student leader and influence policy development regarding higher education policy.
Available positions include:
- Student Regent
- Student Representative
