Budget

The Student Government (SG) budget outlines how student fees and allocated funds are used to support campus programs, events and organizations. Managed with transparency and accountability, the budget ensures resources are distributed fairly and in ways that directly benefit the student body. Each year, SG reviews funding priorities, approves allocations and publishes records so all students can see how their contributions strengthen campus life.

When is the SG budget decided and allocated?

Student Government applies annually in the spring for funding through the Student Services Budget Committee (SSBC), and the financial director develops and presents the annual budget for approval in accordance with University rules.

How does SG decide how much funding to allocate to student organizations?

Organization funding is distributed by the Financial Committee comprised by Assembly representatives with the executive financial director serving as an ex-officio member. The appropriations and endowment processes every summer, fall and spring cycle is open to all registered student organizations in good standing and is overseen in collaboration with the SGO financial advisor. Allocations are determined through a rubric grading of organization applications which ensures compliance with University standards. If you have any questions about the process, please reach out to the SGO financial advisor, Veronica Cantu.

How does SG ensure accountability and transparency for all expenditures?

SG finances are managed according to University rules and regulations. Fiscal reports are presented to oversight bodies such as the Assembly and SSBC. All endowment distributions are required to follow budget request and spending compliance procedures established in collaboration with the SGO financial advisor.
