Governing Documents

Creating Change Together

Our governing documents are the foundation of how Student Government (SG) operates — they set the rules, responsibilities and structure for our work. These include the Constitution, Codes of Rules & Procedures and Election Code, which are reviewed and approved through formal channels. Changes to these documents must be endorsed by both the University administration and the vice president for student affairs, ensuring they reflect student priorities while upholding institutional standards.

Where can I find the governing documents?

These documents are housed on the Office of the Dean of Students website

Why do these documents matter?

They ensure consistency, fairness and accountability in how SG operates. They define roles, set procedures and protect student interests by providing clear guidelines for governance.

How are changes made to these documents?

Amendments must pass through SG’s internal processes (such as legislative proposals and votes) and then receive approval from the vice president for student affairs and the University president before going into effect.
